Check out this short training clip of Kyle Peter and Marco Amselem from Team Tecnu Adventure Racing as they prepare for the Costa Rica Adventure Race!
Raid the North Extreme gets underway later this week. Check out this video from Team Kootenay Kaos from a recent 24-hour training session.
With the weekend just a few hours away for us here in the states, we decided to post this short clip of Brook MacDonald taking a leisurely ride in NEw Zealand. Who else has a ride like this planned this weekend?
Thanks to the Outer Edge for the heads up!
In just a little over a month, the inaugural edition of the Alpine Expedition Race (APEX) will take place in Switzerland. APEX, part of the AR World Series, will test its participants over four days in this non-stop expedition race. This should truly be an epic race and we look forward to following along with the action. Race runs May 24-29.
What follows is a short trailer for the Vanuatu Adventure Race to take place August 13-15, 2011 in the South Pacific. What a great location for a race and an even better venue for a little R&R post race in paradise.
Some great video to take you into the weekend! Less than 2 minutes of some awesome footage of ‘flying’ across a Mexican landscape.
We found this video over at the Adventure Journal and couldn’t resist a repost on our site! Keep your eyes on the spectators and the proximity in which they are buzzed!
Chelsey Gribbon and Jason Magness (YogaSlackers) just returned from a trip to New Zealand. Here is time-lapsed video of them running the Kepler Track which amounts to 1.5 marathons (60km).
It is that time of year and we are all dusting off the bike after winter storage and prepping for the season ahead. Here is a good start to get the adrenaline cranking and get you psyched for some serious riding! Okay, most of us will never attempt what we see on the video below but it is great to watch!
No Boundaries’ own contributing editor Grant Killian is on the ground in Ecuador as his team, APEX/Untamed, prepares for the first race of the year in the Adventure Racing World Series. Grant, race director for Untamed Adventure, was interviewed prior to leaving his home in Switzerland about his team, their expectations for the race, acclimating, etc…
Grant also took the time to video his packing for the race in Ecuador and touches on a few things that other racers might find interesting as they prepare for their next expedition race abroad.
Best of luck to all of the teams this week as the race gets under way.
Who say that you have to take to the trails for an epic mountain bike ride! Thanks to our friends at Outer Edge Magazine for the heads up on this video.
I saw this video over at The Adventure Journal and couldn’t resist posting it at our site.
Disclaimer: If you are watching this at work, put on head phones or watch before everyone gets into the office. The videography of the honey badger is great but the narration is paramount!
135 mile race in sub zero degree temperatures definitely qualifies as extreme. This is on the other end of the spectrum as the Badwater. The Arrowhead 135 Ultra Marathon is a race that takes the most hardened athletes 135 miles from International Falls, MN to Tower, MN. Participants can choose their mode of transportation (bike, ski or on foot). Approximately 120 racers started this year’s race. Enjoy the video below!
Geocentric Outdoors has released a short video preview of this year’s AR World Championship race to take place in Tasmania. Looks epic!
With less than a month to go before the Wenger Patagonian Expedition Race gets underway, the race organization has released a trailer with footage from past year’s events. The race is considered by most to be the hardest expedition adventure race on the planet. Several friends of Adventure World will be racing at this year’s event and we look forward to sharing their stories after they return.
The Wenger Patagonian Expedition Race is an annual adventure race which takes place in the southern-most region of the world. Extremely physically and mentally challenging, the event test competitors to the limit on bike, kayak and foot as they traverse plains, mountains, glaciers, native forests, swampland, rivers, lakes and channels, guided only by their mind and spirit and driven on by their physical stamina and experience.

The race that brought $10000 in schwag and raffle items and 40 teams in 2009; amassed $20000 in gear giveaways and 60 teams in 2010, is RETURNING to Dawsonville, GA on May 14th, 2011. Sign up for one of the most exciting adventure races in the country, drawing teams from 15+ states to compete in this heavily publicized and covered race.
This thoroughly vetted race boasts a 33-40% course clearing rate, and a 66% finishing rate (even last year, with a whopping 110 mile course!). And make no mistake–this is not just for folks looking to step up to a day race length. Last year, the Atomic drew world-class teams Checkpoint Zero, WEDALI, ATP/CP0, and ImONPoint.org-Odyssey Adventure Racing–all crossing the finish line within minutes of one another!
And don’t rule out Mother Nature! With this race comes the unpredictable North Georgia weather of May. Depending on what the fates decide to doll out, racers can expect a assortment of environmental challenges–chilly nights and hot days; torrential downpours, hail, and lightning; and the first blistering rays of Summer.
Logistically, this year’s race drops the canoe requirement–we are again planning to provide watercraft for the race. We are planning on partnering with Pura Vida Adventures again to provide you guys with another ropes section and considering the addition of a new discipline to the race from last year.
So get over the hangover, make a resolution, call up your friends, and register for this adventure!
Like last year, early bird registration for the 2011 Atomic Adventure Race ends with the month of January (01/31 11:59PM). If you received a free or discounted entry prize last year, you MUST early bird register to redeem it. That goes for the 2010 early bird teams that took a rain check entry into the 2011 race as well.

One of a kind adventures do still exist in the world! This video is from the Kayak Telluride team as they made a first descent of the Rio Huallaga in Peru. The river was the last major tributary of the Amazon River yet to be navigated.
Thanks to The Adventure Blog for the heads up on this one
We caught this video the other day on the Evolv Climbing Facebook page and thought it a good addition to our array of videos on AW.
In the video, Chris Lindner and Kurt Smith travel to Joshua Tree to revisit The Dunce Cap in which Kurt climbed in 1988. The route had not been repeated in over 20 years. Watch and find out if Chris will be able to make only the 2nd successful ascent.
Our friends down under at Outer Edge Magazine posted this video on their Facebook page. It has some out of this world jumps ranging from some serious air on skis to a man that jumps from a plane without a chute (obviously trusting his partners to make the grab before chute deployment). What better way to spend 8 minutes on a Friday as we prepare to transition to the weekend.
Team Adventure World member Paulette Kirby demonstrates how quickly the NEMO Nano Elite can be pitched. She pitches it by herself in about 3-1/2 minutes in the Badlands of South Dakota. It could easily be less than 2 minutes with 2 people. She will be taking the tent with her to Patagonia in February for the WPER.
Randy Ericksen shot the footage and compiled the video. You know some of Randy’s work from the Primal Quest Badlands video.
NEMO has and continues to sponsor Team Adventure World.
